The HYDROLIFT hull design is unique to the Kosi Cat. This hull design is best when manufactured in fiberglass due to the various curves that are required to achieve this hull shape in order to have the performance that the Kosi Cat has.
Looking at the front of the boat you will see the fine entry of the two hulls with the large reverse chines and the variable dead rise along the hulls. The Kosi Cat has a round tunnel incorporating the two hydrolift sections that are concave at the front of the tunnel, this increases the lift required in white water situations and also eliminates tunnel slap which is common with most standard twin hull designs. This tunnel shape continues to the rear and this enables the Kosi Cat to turn without loss of traction.
Looking at the rear of the boat you will see the wide hulls allowing the Kosi Cat to to plane with low horsepower motors, which in today’s high fuel costs makes the Kosi Cat a very economical and affordable boat to run.
Having two motors is also an added safety feature when venturing offshore because if one motor breaks down the boat will still get you back to shore on the plane with one motor. The outside of the hulls have small indentations that force the water to spray away from the cockpit areas, this makes the Kosi Cat an extremely dry boat that will impress in all sea conditions.
The fiberglass construction of this hull is extremely strong, these boats are made in South Africa for their tough conditions, there are very few boat ramps there, therefore boats are launched and retrieved mainly from the surf. When coming back to the beach these boats are driving up to 30 kph and land up on the sand to be retrieved, this can be watched on you tube:
Another important feature of a twin hull boat is that when beached there is no lean to the side. The hull of the Kosi Cat is fully foam filled which also adds to the safety of this boat. Being a twin hull makes the Kosi Cat a very stable fishing platform making fishing fun.
